About George Woods
With a classic touch like James Morrison, the folky heart of Ray LaMontagne, and a unique melodic adventurousness, George Woods creates his own signature style of Folk-Funk.
George Woods’ effervescent lyrics and lighthearted indie folk sounds shine through on his new full-length studio album, “Heartbeat” which dropped November 2012 in Boston, MA and online. The next step takes place on the spring equinox, March 21.
The George Woods Band and Boston choreographer Jen Kuhnberg have teamed up and raised over $6000 via Kickstarter to turn "Heartbeat" into a full fledged Modern Dance Ballet/Rock Concert. The performance uses the 13 song cycle of the record and tells a lifelong love story. Accompanied by the full band a troupe of 12 dancers will depict the characters and stories of heartbeat in the Oberon's "Nightclub theatre" setting. The audience will experience 360 degrees of action and be immersed in the show. The show is set to premier at the Oberon Theatre on March 21st at 8pm, and will be featuring special guest acoustic soul artist Dan Rodman as the opening act.
Throughout the 6 weeks leading up to the show George will be releasing rehearsal clips and interviews with all of our dancers. The George Woods Band has been performing in the greater Boston area, and around New England since 2010. Their new release "Heartbeat" has seen airplay on local, national, and international internet radio stations. Heartbeat has also received a number of outstanding reviews from music reviewers all across the country and internationally.
